Hafod Y Coed has a rich history dating back to 1889.
The House was originally built for John Benjamin Davies in 1889 as a gentleman’s residence when the wealthy few holidayed in North Wales. Specifically, Llanfairfechan and the neighbouring town of Penmaenmawr thanks to their recently built train links to London
Later, John Benjamin Davies left our homely house to his niece Lucy Davies who sadly died in 1940. Subsequently the house was aquired by St. Winifred’s, the local private school, and became a boarding house for the Sixth Form students
The grandeur of the house attracted many parties and events, from births to weddings.
When the school closed for good our forgotten house began to fall into disrepair. Thankfully, my parents bought Hafod Y Coed after falling in love with the house in 1973 and our welcoming home has been filled with a feeling of felicity ever since.
